Glossary¶
Common terms used throughout the DFACS documentation.
ABC Financial A gym billing platform integrated with DFACS. Uses a daily sync schedule rather than interval-based syncing. See ABC Financial integration.
ABC Relay
A relay controller compatible with ABC Financial access control hardware. Configured as relay type ABC in DFACS.
Antaris A gym management platform integrated with DFACS. Tracks NSF (non-sufficient funds) member status. See Antaris integration.
Barcode A unique identifier carried by each gym member, typically printed on a membership card or displayed in a mobile app. DFACS reads barcodes via a scanner to identify members at the door.
COM (terminal) The common terminal on the relay. In a DragonFly/The Box wiring setup, COM connects to the positive side of your power supply (+12V). Forms one side of the switched circuit together with NO.
Check-in An access event where a member successfully scans in and the door unlocks. Check-ins are logged locally and synced back to your gym management platform.
Delta sync An incremental sync that fetches only membership changes since the last sync. Runs more frequently than a full sync (typically every 5–15 minutes depending on platform).
DFACS DragonFly Access Control System. The Windows application that runs on the access control device, validates member barcodes, controls the door relay, and syncs with your gym management software.
DragonFly Cloud Portal The DragonFly cloud platform for remote monitoring and management of one or more DFACS installations. Not required for standalone operation.
Door Position Sensor (DPS) An optional sensor that detects whether the door is physically open or closed. Used for propped-door alerts. Connects to the DPS IN terminal on The Box.
Dumb relay A basic relay controller with no status feedback. DFACS sends open/close signals only — no state confirmation, no door sensor support. Requires manual COM port selection.
Fail-safe unlock A safety feature that automatically unlocks the door if the DFACS device's memory usage exceeds 85%. Prevents members from being trapped if the system becomes unstable.
Fliip A gym management platform integrated with DFACS. Returns error messages in French; DFACS translates them to English in all logs. See Fliip integration.
Force sync A manual action triggered from Dashboard → Status → Force Sync. Immediately fetches the latest member data from your gym platform instead of waiting for the next scheduled sync.
Full sync A complete refresh of the local member database from your gym management platform. Runs on a longer interval than delta syncs (typically 15–60 minutes or daily, depending on platform).
GND (terminal) Ground. On The Box, GND connects the negative side of your power supply and the negative terminal of the lock. GND is a shared bus — PSU negative and lock negative connect here together.
Glofox A gym management platform integrated with DFACS. See Glofox integration.
GRANTED An access decision logged when a member's barcode is valid and they are allowed through the door.
Barcode Reader The barcode scanner included with The DragonFly Box. Connects to The Box via the Orange Reader Cable (RJ22). No separate power or configuration required.
Magnetic lock (maglock) An electromagnetic locking device. Requires continuous power to stay locked; removing power unlocks it (fail-safe behavior). Wires to NO/COM/GND on The Box.
MQTT A lightweight messaging protocol used for communication between DFACS and the DragonFly cloud platform. DFACS initiates the connection outbound — no inbound firewall ports need to be opened.
NO (terminal) Normally Open. One side of the relay switch. When the relay activates (DFACS closes the circuit), NO connects to COM, completing the lock power circuit.
NC (terminal) Normally Closed. The opposite of NO — circuit is closed when the relay is not activated, opens when activated. Not used in standard DFACS wiring.
NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) An Antaris-specific membership status indicating a failed payment. DFACS can be configured to deny access to members with NSF status.
Offline mode DFACS's fallback state when it cannot reach your gym management platform. Access decisions are made against the locally cached member database. Check-ins are queued and sent when connectivity is restored.
Paramount Acceptance A billing processor integrated with DFACS, commonly used with ABC Financial gym software. Uses a club AT identifier and bearer token. See Paramount integration.
RTE (Request-to-Exit) An optional sensor that detects when someone exits through the door. Used for real-time occupancy tracking. Connects to the RTE IN terminal on The Box.
Relay An electrically controlled switch. DFACS activates the relay to complete the lock circuit (locking the door) or deactivates it to open the circuit (unlocking). The Box contains a relay; standalone relay controllers (ABC, Dumb) are also supported.
Standalone mode DFACS operation using a CSV file instead of a gym management platform. Barcodes listed in the CSV file are granted access; removed barcodes become revoked on the next sync.
The Box DragonFly's integrated relay controller hardware. Combines relay, power management, and DFACS connectivity into one unit. Connects to the Barcode Reader via Orange Reader Cable (RJ22). Powered via POE (Power over Ethernet).
Zenoti A gym management platform integrated with DFACS. Supports barcode expiration windows and cross-location member validation. See Zenoti integration.
