Installation Checklist¶
A step-by-step checklist for technicians installing a DFACS system. Print this page before arriving on-site.
Before You Arrive¶
- DFACS device (Windows mini-PC with DFACS pre-installed)
- DragonFly Box (includes Barcode Reader and Orange Reader Cable)
- POE injector + ethernet cables (included with The Box)
- Magnetic lock or door strike (12V or 24V DC)
- Power supply for lock — door strike: 12V DC 1A min; maglock: 12V or 24V DC 600mA min (wet relay is 12V only — use dry contact + external supply for maglocks)
- (If maglock + dry contact relay) Schottky diode for flyback protection
- Mounting hardware (screws, drill, cable clips)
- Network connection to router/switch
- Gym management platform API credentials
- DragonFly Cloud Portal device key (from welcome email)
1. Physical Installation¶
- Mount maglock/strike to door frame
- Mount The Box inside near door, in a protected location (not exposed to members)
- Mount Barcode Reader outside at entry point (right side, ~32 inches from ground)
- Connect Orange Reader Cable from Barcode Reader to The Box Barcode Reader port (keyed — one way only)
- Run lock wiring to The Box: lock positive → NO terminal, lock negative → GND terminal
- Run power supply wiring: PSU positive → COM terminal, PSU negative → GND terminal
- (Maglock + dry contact only) Install Schottky diode across lock terminals before powering on
- Connect Long Ethernet Cable from The Box LAN port to POE injector POE port
- Connect Short Ethernet Cable from POE injector LAN port to router/switch
- Connect POE injector power cable to 15A 120V outlet (surge protector recommended)
- Confirm lock engages when power is applied
- (Optional) Wire RTE sensor to RTE IN terminal
- (Optional) Wire door position sensor to DPS IN terminal
Wiring reference: Hardware Setup → Wiring Reference
2. Network Connection¶
- Connect DFACS device to network (wired preferred)
- Confirm internet access — open browser on DFACS device, navigate to any site
- Note DFACS device IP address:
ipconfigin Command Prompt → IPv4 Address → _______
3. First Boot & Dashboard¶
- Power on DFACS device
- Confirm DragonFly tray icon appears (bottom-right system tray)
- Open dashboard: right-click tray icon → Open Web GUI (or navigate to
https://localhost) - Accept SSL certificate warning (Advanced → Proceed)
- Log into Configuration with default password
admin - Change the configuration password immediately
4. Hardware Configuration¶
- Set Relay Type to match hardware (DragonFly / ABC / Dumb)
- Confirm Relay COM Port is correct (auto-detected or set manually via Device Manager)
- Set Unlock Duration (default 5 seconds — adjust as needed)
- (If RTE sensor installed) Enable RTE Count in Configuration → Hardware
- (If door sensor installed) Enable Door Position Sensing in Configuration → Hardware
5. Integration Setup¶
- Select Billing Platform in Configuration
- Enter API credentials for your platform — see integration guide
- Click Save
- Confirm dashboard shows API Connected
- Confirm member count populates (indicates sync completed)
6. Test a Scan¶
- Use a known active member barcode (your own is fine)
- Scan barcode — door should unlock
- Check Dashboard → Access Logs — event should show as GRANTED
- Use a known inactive barcode (expired member) — door should stay locked, log shows DENIED
7. DragonFly Cloud Portal¶
- In Configuration → WAN, enter the Device Key from the client's welcome email
- Click Save
- Navigate to Dashboard → WAN Status — confirm status shows Connected
- Notify DragonFly support if the device does not appear online within 2 minutes
8. Access Schedules (if required)¶
- Go to Dashboard → Schedules
- Create schedule for regular business hours
- (If 24/7 access) No schedule needed — door operates on member validation only
- Test: confirm door behavior at a schedule boundary
